The Sea Cliff – North Shore Property Owners Committee (SCPOC) is an all volunteer organization with a mission to protect property owner rights and keep taxes under control. Your home is your castle, and probably your most valuable investment. Yet the administration in Village hall wants to micromanage your property. They say you need a permit to – cut down a tree, -to use a child’s wading pool in your backyard, or, – to even “touch” a 2×4. We think that’s wrong.

While many homeowners challenge their tax assessments in an attempt to reduce property taxes, such measures may only have a limited effect. If tax revenue declines, municipal officials can simply raise the tax levy rate. You end up paying the same amount of taxes or more, even though your property has a lower assessed value. The only real solution is to cut government and school district spending.

The SCPOC was created for those Villagers and North Shore residents who share these concerns. Our motto is “Villagers to halt over regulation and high taxes.”

We are also closely watching the NY American Water situation as it develops and we fully support a public owned water system for Sea Cliff, Glen Head, and Glenwood Landing.
